Rebuilding A Program

Touchworks Communications Inc. began working with this organization by conducting historical giving analyses and developing a Direct Response Strategic Plan. By the time we were retained, the organization had already undergone significant infrastructural changes and had little internal fundraising expertise available to them. Their Direct Response Program constituted a significant percentage of their annual revenues and they were looking to Touchworks to provide strategic direction to protect and rebuild their program.

The primary focus was to increase the overall donor retention rate, increase the annual value of the active donor base and become more accurate in forecasting revenues and expenses.

By taking a “program” vs. “campaign” approach to donor segmentation and improving the mailing cycle methodology, we were able to achieve an increase in renewal rates of 11% and an increase in their average single gift of 25%. We also saw an increase in their monthly giving program of 432%. This organization is now able to project revenues more accurately and is less vulnerable to donor-base erosion.
